iBRoad welcomes the EU Renovation Wave Strategy

The European Commission published on October 14, 2020 a new strategy to boost renovation; the so-called “A Renovation Wave for Europe – Greening our buildings, creating jobs, improving lives”, aims to double the renovation rate of buildings in Europe. Acknowledging the pivotal role of buildings towards a greener and more resilient society, the EC has identified the areas of intervention that are critical to enable a significant upgrading of renovations, in both scale and depth.

Among the key actions, the EC proposes Building Renovation Passports and the introduction of a single digital tool, Digital Building Logbooks, to ensure compatibility and integration of data throughout the renovation journey. As stated in the Renovation Wave Strategy, “Deep renovation is not always achievable in one go. It is therefore important to create better conditions for staged renovation.”

The iBRoad project consortium welcomes the Renovation Wave Strategy as a turning point towards an energy efficient and climate-friendly future for European buildings!
